What is OrthoK?

OrthoK or Orthokeratology is a nonsurgical reversible procedure that involves wearing specially designed rigid contact lenses to gradually reshape the curvature of your cornea, the front outer surface of the eye.

This procedure is used primarily to correct shortsightedness and is a great option for those who may not wish to undergo corrective eye surgery. Secondly, children are also good candidates for this treatment as various clinical studies have shown OrthoK to be superiorly effective in the slowing of myopic progression. OrthoK was approved in 2002 by the US Food and Drug Administration and is also recognised by the Australian TGA.
